Tom Barnes Fine Art wants everyone who visits tombarnesfineart.com to be able to enjoy the artwork, find information and get in touch, including people with disabilities.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people who are blind or have low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, or have motor, speech or cognitive disabilities.
What we’ve done
- Added text descriptions (alt text) to the paintings and other meaningful images
- Checked color contrast so text is easy to read
- Made the site usable with a keyboard, with visible focus outlines and “skip to content” links
- Used clear headings and descriptive labels on buttons and links
- Added an accessibility toolbar so you can enlarge text or switch to high contrast
- Test the site regularly with automated tools (such as WAVE, axe and Google Lighthouse), along with manual checks
Known limitations
Some parts of this site come from other companies, such as the cookie consent tool and site statistics. We can’t fully control the accessibility of that content, but we choose providers with accessibility in mind. Each painting is described in words, but if you’d like a fuller description of any artwork, just ask and we’ll gladly provide one.
